Christmas Story Series | Andy Ling - West Vancouver Secondary School

1/4/2017

This is the first winter I have ever been here alone. Usually, my aunt and her family will be in Vancouver to spend their Christmas with me. This is year, she didn’t book the tickets so I have to be on my own. My daily life was normal for the first couple of days, sleep, eat and games; however, yesterday was quite different because me and my friends had  our own party outside.

Yesterday, my friends and I met up at Park Royal shopping mall at 10:30, but when I arrived there was only a handful of people. One of the people there, Rachel said that it has been expected and it is possible that they will come at 12. At that point, we decided to play a game of monopoly. That was such a fun game that no one can win or lose. We played the game until noon and that was the  ime when most people had arrived. We went out have some chicken at Nando’s as lunch and went  back. On my way back, I bought a pair of cups that have the symbol of one of my favourite games on it. In the afternoon, we played a game called the werewolves. There were three different character, werewolves, prophet and villages for players to choose. Each night,  werewolves kill someone, prophet can review someone’s identity and the goal is eitherwerewolves kill all the people or the good people get rid of all the werewolves. That was the first time that I discovered that I am very good at gaining people’s trust in this game. We played this game until 4 and that was the end of the party time .

The party was a pretty good ending for my winter vacation and this was the first time I realized the importance of making friends because they are the people you can count on when you are alone.
